PayTrax
Software development for a payment processor collecting on behalf of schools and non-profits.
PayTrax is a payment processor focused on the kind of customers that don’t fit a generic Stripe-Checkout-and-go workflow — schools, public-sector programs, and non-profits whose collection patterns are seasonal, multi-payer, and subject to a different set of rules.
The work
- Software development across the platform’s core flows
- Integration work between the processor and the customers’ own systems (registration, accounting, reporting)
- Reliability on the parts of the system where “almost works” isn’t good enough — money moves through them
Why this one is on the list
Payments is the boring-on-purpose category that’s actually really hard. Schools and non-profits have constraints that mass-market payment tooling ignores. Building software that respects those constraints — and stays up during the spring registration crush — is the unglamorous version of “full stack.”
